Styling curated by Kiko Kostadinov Studio and the ASICS SportStyle development team. The UB7-S GT-2160™ shoe is inspired by themes of interlocking assemblies, functional utopias and Mino ceramics. Soft textures combine with the idea of handmade elements found in iconic works of art. By creating matte color appearances and washes, the design team was able to highlight the archival shape and construction of traditional running shoes. In contrast to grid-like patterns and bold, opaque colors, Functional Utopia's inspired variations establish direct correlations with nature. These bright primary color combinations are counterbalanced by metallic structures that accentuate the materialization of the double-layered mesh. The designers also explored the influences of Mino ceramics, seeking contemporary processes for the rusty qualities that appear in Mino glazes. This process sees the images as a vessel of graded colors that have the ability to stand the test of time.
